I have a 97' Sunfire with 240,000 miles on it. I have never done anything but normal maintenance on it. It is the best car I have ever had.

It depends on what you're looking at, like with any make of cars.
I have a 97 Pontiac Grand Prix SE with a GT package. It has the best engine GM ever made which is the 3800. It gets 40 mpg (Imperial gallons) and runs like a top. I've had to do some work on it recently but I should be able to run this car for another 4-8 years if I want to. It currently has 185,000km on it (about 120,000 miles I think that works out to be) so there's plenty left! The only big problem with it right now is some rust and that's my own fault because I didn't get any rust protection done on it over the past 5 years and, unfortunately, they use a crap-load of salt on the roads here and that's what's done it.
If you're looking for a good size car that is comfortable, fast, reliable, gets great mileage and can go and go.. I'd look at a Pontiac Grand Prix... but, whether it's an SE or a GT or GTP, make sure it has a 3800 (3.8L) engine... and if some schmoltz at a dealership or a mechanic says that the SE never came with a 3800, tell them they're wrong.. the 97 did if you ordered the GT package but I think it was the only year that did so.

Pontiacs are great cars..better than any Jap piece of junk..my 2001 Grad Prix gets better gas mileage than any camry, and with 97,000 miles it will be on the road for at least another 100,000..show me a 2001 camry that will lastthat long...my mother has a 97 Bonneville at 165,000 my brother has a 66 Tempest, a 99 firebird, and I just bought a 58 Bonneville that is still running.GM is by far the longest lasting best built cars..you will see more 10 year old Pontiacs than 10 year old Toyotas on the road...the best engine they make is the 3.8, ask any mechanic and they will tell you the same.

I have a Pontiac Grand Am (2003) and I love it.
It rides smooth, and it's used: there hasn't been a problem! My family drives Pontiacs too --- my aunt's had a van from them for almost 9 years without a problem!

I have had 3 and I wouldn't drive anything else. My boyfriend has a GTO and a Bonneville right now and he has owned over 28 cars in his lifetime (mostly all Pontiacs).

Pontiacs are a brandname under GM. They appear to be - you see tons of grand ams, firebirds, bonneville's, sunbirds on the road. The new solstice is cool and reasonably priced!!
