Check out Sumerian legends. Third millennium BC - all the stuff in the old testament was taken from them.
I think my first link is about as scientific as you'll get when it comes to hypothesising about legends and myths so old.
;)
I've read about that, bud. Again, Sumerian stone tablets speak of stuff like that. When Venus was just a comet or something, passing close to the Earth and creating cataclysmic events; causing the gigantic rip in Mars, tilting Uranus's axis...(according to translated Sumerian Astronomy, they knew about Uranus's poles pointing to the Sun...wtf!? How??) I'm still reading up about that sort of stuff so don't quote me on anything!
Here ya go, is this what you're after? It's called the "Orpheous Theory". http://64.233.183.104/search?q=cache:VK5rB8-gbjgJ:www.virtuallystrange.net/ufo/updates/2005/aug/m03-005.shtml+Orpheous+theory&hl=en&gl=uk&ct=clnk&cd=1

How ironic you should ask a biblical question and not expect a biblical answer. Where else do we hear of Lucifer?
John saw a vision whilst he was on the isl of Patmos. He wrote his historical account of what he saw in the book of Revelation. 12:9 "So down the great dragon was hurled, the origional sepent, the one called Devil and Satan, who is misleading the entire inhabited earth, he was hurled down to the earth and his angels were hurled down with him."
There are many historical events that have been recorded in the bible and they are supported by outside historical writings so why would you discount the historical description of what John saw simply because the source it came from is in the bible.
Other's may have wittnessed something, I don't know I wasn't there but if you have such insight perhaps you could share your scientific evidence with us.

Well no one saw anything in the sky since people werent around yet. It is supported in the Bible however, and it doesnt take a genius to see that satan is alive and kickin down here on earth what with the current condition of the world and all.

People would not have seen anything in the sky. Lucifer fell from heaven before any people had been created. I'm basing that on the fact that Satan tempted in the Garden of Eden, so he had fallen from heaven some time prior to the creation of the world.
Isaiah 14:12 says, "How are thou fallen O Lucifer, son of the morning. how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations."
Ezekiel 28:15 says, "Thou wast perfect in thy ways from the day that thou wast created, till iniquity was found in thee."

the origin of the story is from God. it's mentioned in Job, Revelation, and at least one other book of the Bible. nobody saw Lucifer fall to the earth cause he's a spirit. when Lucifer and his angels are refered to as "stars" that's just symbolism. there were actual living beings.

if you aren't going to acknowledge the bible then why would you even believe that humans had a way of recording history or that they even existed around that time. the only source i know of is the bible. why cant you accept that either God or Allah or whatever sort of divinity u believe in gave humans a vision at some point to explain why there is suffering in the world.

Check out Exekiel 28:13-19
" 13 You were in Eden,
the garden of God;
every precious stone adorned you:
ruby, topaz and emerald,
chrysolite, onyx and jasper,
sapphire, [b] turquoise and beryl. [c]
Your settings and mountings [d] were made of gold;
on the day you were created they were prepared.
14 You were anointed as a guardian cherub,
for so I ordained you.
You were on the holy mount of God;
you walked among the fiery stones.
15 You were blameless in your ways
from the day you were created
till wickedness was found in you.
16 Through your widespread trade
you were filled with violence,
and you sinned.
So I drove you in disgrace from the mount of God,
and I expelled you, O guardian cherub,
from among the fiery stones.
17 Your heart became proud
on account of your beauty,
and you corrupted your wisdom
because of your splendor.
So I threw you to the earth;
I made a spectacle of you before kings.
18 By your many sins and dishonest trade
you have desecrated your sanctuaries.
So I made a fire come out from you,
and it consumed you,
and I reduced you to ashes on the ground
in the sight of all who were watching.
19 All the nations who knew you
are appalled at you;
you have come to a horrible end
and will be no more.' ""

Isa 14:11 Thy pomp is brought down to the grave, and the noise of thy viols: the worm is spread under thee, and the worms cover thee.
Isa 14:12 How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations!
Isa 14:13 For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north:
Isa 14:14 I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High.
Isa 14:15 Yet thou shalt be brought down to hell, to the sides of the pit.
Isa 14:16 They that see thee shall narrowly look upon thee, and consider thee, saying, Is this the man that made the earth to tremble, that did shake kingdoms;
Isa 14:17 That made the world as a wilderness, and destroyed the cities thereof; that opened not the house of his prisoners?
Isa 14:18 All the kings of the nations, even all of them, lie in glory, every one in his own house.
Isa 14:19 But thou art cast out of thy grave like an abominable branch, and as the raiment of those that are slain, thrust through with a sword, that go down to the stones of the pit; as a carcase trodden under feet.
Isa 14:20 Thou shalt not be joined with them in burial, because thou hast destroyed thy land, and slain thy people: the seed of evildoers shall never be renowned.
Isa 14:24 The LORD of hosts hath sworn, saying, Surely as I have thought, so shall it come to pass; and as I have purposed, so shall it stand:
