how is it that you run over/into a large farm animal demolishing your car and the spectators are more worried about the condition of the freakin' cow... and on top of that the staties don't even bother to come, they send the hoopy cops! Sounds like you & I have the same kind of luck. Now, if you were doing something perfectly illegal you bet your booty they would show up from all directions. If you really need help, pretend you're drunk and call 911 yourself .

A relative of mine once got angry and decided to walk home from church. It was midsummer in south Texas and burning hot.
I drove up and down the highway, looking for him...up and down and up and down, and finally gave up.

Later, he got home, tired and dehydrated. He said, "Why did you pass me up so many times? I was waving my arms at you?"
Well, I was looking for him, but I was also keeping my eye on the road and the cars around me and trying to keep from having an accident.

The highway patrol is not supposed to be looking for folks sitting along the highway. They are patrolling the highway...checking on motorists, making sure everything is going smoothly and safely.
If I couldn't find my cousin when I was LOOKING for him, why expect a highway patrol officer to see you when he's NOT specifically looking for you???

The patrol should have stopped,,
But sometimes its hard to know what will happen if another person stopped,,it could be an act to get someone to stop. Then the good samaritan is the victim.
Sad world we live in.
