The Queen, as a 19-year-old attempted to get her drivers' lisence, but failed. She tried again at age 25, but failed again. So the police allowed her to be the only person in the UK allowed to drive without a licence. Doesn't sound fair, does it?

No it doesn't sound fair, but hey, lifes not fair or I would be her grandchild (lol). Besides does she actually ever really drive herself anywhere?

You've changed your parameters. Initially you said the only citizen in the world -- and she isn't. The Sultan of Brunei, for example, doesn't have a driver's license, but drives whenever he wants.
Queen Elizabeth, then Princess Elizabeth, was a lorry driver during WW2, so she must have had some accreditation. The story I heard was that her licence lapsed, and she was given permission to drive on the castle grounds, but not on public roads. And as long as she is in her own back yard, she doesn't need a licence. I believe the royal youngsters drove earlier than most children, because they too were driving on private property. You and I don't have a backyard big enough to drive in, but she certainly does. Several of them! But when she goes on the public roads, she uses a chauffeur.

The Queen never attained her licience and she is subject to the law of the land. She never drives on public roads, the few times you see her behind the wheel is on her private land in Scotland.

Wouldnt it make an interesting case. The Queen v The Queen!

She's the queen of England. She is the source of all law in the United Kingdom. Not only is there not a single police officer who CAN lay a hand on her, but she also RARELY drives. She usually has one of the chauffers drive her where she needs to be.

Because she is a Queen and all queens can legally drive without a license.

The Queen is the source of all law in England.

By applying for a driver's license she would be in essence asking herself for permission to drive, which would be a Constitutional minefield.

How oxymoronic. Why would the Queen need a license? What part of "monarchy" do you not understand? Did you just fail your license test...again?

What do you expect? She is the Queen, after all! Aren't exceptions always made for members of the Royal Family?

BTW, I don't think it's fair, either.

Anybody including the Queen can drive in our roads without a license; just don't get caught; and it's not likely you will. ;-)

Because she is the Queen and they figure out that she will never drive, anyway. The chauffers will do that.
