There is a LOT to do. I lived in Fairbanks for 16 years. You can go to the museum at the University of Alaska Fairbanks, you can go camping at Chena Hot Springs (and swim, horseback ride, etc.) You can go line dancing at The Silver Spur. There's also Alaska Land, a gold-rush theme park in Fairbanks at the corner of Peger Rd. and Airport Way. The Klondike Inn is a GREAT place to eat, looks like a seedy little bar, but is actually part of an OLD hotel, and it's located behind K-Mart. Then there's Denali Park, and that can fill your entire vacation. If you go to Anchorage, check out the Dimond Center Mall. It has over 200 stores and a very well taken care of ice rink in the center where you can rent skates.

Alaska is huge, and there are tons of things to do. I think the one of the more versatile areas is the Kenai Peninsula. They have everything from dogsledding on glaciers to active volcanoes out there. You can go fishing or watch bears catch fish. It's beautiful and there are a lot of small towns that have big Native American and Russian influences. You'll like it.
