Ok- when you are in the viewer looking at the carbon filament device, there is a code on top of that image- it is in morse code. Figure out the code- then do a search on the code words, it will give you a person. Do a search on that person- (It will say he was in Concord). Remember to grab the washer in the jar off the shelf. Then take the helicopter to Concord. You will be in jail and the door will shut as you arrive. Click to the right of your cell and it will show you the bed, click the matress and it will lift up- there is a rope underneath that you need to collect. Use the washer and the rope to get the keys. You have to throw it. It will open the door and you get the next piece. Sorry if you just wanted a push in the right direction instead of the answer.

Carbon filament device? Don't know what you're talking about. I just played that game and got the 4th piece. All you need from the lab is the washer plus you gotta solve the Morse code that's in one of the pictures on the viewer thing.
