A soul mate is supposed to be the mate you have for life and you are both aware of that feeling. BUT, we don't know if we only have one soul mate. No one has touched that rule yet. No one is meant to spend their life with one person. What do you do when you get bored with them or just don't like them any more? Then you go search for your next soul mate?

I can't even imagine coming home to the same person every night for the rest of my life. Maybe soul mates don't require any personal space or alone time.........

The one person out of six billion possible people you could meet who manages to somehow "complete" you. Apparently, there is such a thing as multiple people having the same soul mate or else you would not have two or three girls pursuing the same guy claiming he is their "soul mate" (or vice versa).

This is an easy question to handle.

Ill tell you what a soul mate is not first.

A soul mate is not your lover, though they can become one.
A soul mate is not your wife / husband but they can becaome one.
A soul mate is not someone you cannot live without, you can always live without your soulmate.
A soulmate is not someone you might meet in your life, but you can choose it.

I know everyone is looking at my answer and thinking "WOW HE IS REALLY ABSTRACT!!!"
But thats not it.

See your soulmate is someone your soul knows before your physical body does. The reference comes from re-incarnation. When we reincarnate, our soulmates choose to reincarnate with us if they want to or not and if they do we automatically know them before we physically know them.

Its like meeting a person and knowing everything about them. If you have never done that with another person before then you have not met your soul mate(s)

And yes there is no rule on how many soulmates you can have. You can choose anyone to become your soulmate. BUT this is not a physical thing, you cannot hang on to a soulmate and they cant hang on to you. They might die before you do. They might move to another country. Being your soul mate means they will be okay, and you will be okay. They know this.
