Yes, that is normal, the solar orbit has a great deal to do with it.. As we near apogee and perogee to the sun cyclical solar climate changes, the period it takes is approximately 160,000 years.
PS disregard idiot rantings of schizophrenics like Al Gore and his ilk they spout junk science without looking at geological and astronomical realities.

Well for the non believers of global warming. I would like to say that in all of the years we have recorded temperatures( over a 100 years) last year was the hottest year on record(you can look this up if you wish). This would also explain the record breaking number of hurricanes we saw last year. Also someone mentioned that the average temperature increased 1 degree in the past 1000 years. Well that may seem normal, but I would like someone to look up what the average temperature increase in the past 10 years was I can guarantee you its a lot more than 1 degree. I remember as a kid(I'm 26). Being able to go out in the hot sun for hours with no protection and not get sunburnt. Now all I need to do is stay out an hour and bam I'm sunburnt.

No.
I saw an interview with the scientific advisor to the White House who wrote the original report for Bush that claimed "it's not clear whether global warming is natural or man-made" in 2001. At the time that was true, but he now admits that global warming DOES exist, it IS man-made, and it IS a problem--there is no competent scientific evidence to the contrary.
The SAME scientists that created the original report submitted a NEW report that now says exactly the opposite to the original, yet for political reasons the government has ignored it and continues to voice the "It's not certain if global warming is natural or man-made" position.
The myth that there is a scientific dissent about Global warming was true in the 80's and 90's--it is not true any more. The scientific consensus is that the current cycle of global warming is far outside the natural parameters, and that man-made causes are the reason.

Well TeenMom--you are only partially right the sad thing is that with a subject like this only partially right makes you dead wrong--there is a somewhat ....at the very very slightest warming / cooling trend that can happen within the earth envoirnment since the stabilization of the planet some time back---but what we are witnessing here is dramatic--and man made--it does have a Great deal to do with the misuse of the planet by us--its inhabitants---our cars ---our factories--the chopping down of the forests and the massive asphalt jungles we've installed all over the world-----And it may not have your attention nor your concern and you can choose to believe or not to believe that is all well and good but it doesn't have a damn thing to do with the reality that is---IT IS HAPPENING---and YOU may not have to worry about dying because of it ---but if someone doesn't do something before long to start the process of stopping it---before too many more generations down the line---someone will

During the early 60's they were preaching in school about how we were entering another ice age. All these fools who scream global warming need to do is chop down a 1000 year old tree and look at the rings. Trees do not lie like Al Gore. one will find periods of severe dry seasons ,wet seasons ,mini ice age seasons in the 18 century. Nature repeats it self all the time. Science even states that global warming killed off the dinosaurs.Well Where was Al Gore or any man then ???????

Personally, I don't know what to believe about that, so I don't have a clear position. In Texas, it seems like it hasn't been that cold in the winter, but we have had 100 degree summers for the past several years in a row clear into September and 90s in October. Also, while in previous years, we had at least 3 to 4 winter storms a year, in recent years there have been either one every two to three years, as some winters we didn't have any winter storms at all. So they could be into something.
But on the other hand, sometimes it has been colder some years than others.
Who knows?

I think the global warming is a scam. It is just the earth going through it's warming and ice age cycle. My teacher said that since the oxygen is 21% of the atmosphere, and CO2 is only 1%. He says the oxygen is barely lowering. But hasn't lowered less than a percent for a couple hundred years. At one time, CO2 use to be21%. But since plants have used up a lot of the CO2, we now have a lot of Oxygen.
Boring! All I am saying, is don't burn harmful things. I am not saying we should take care of global warming. I just think we could be some what good. we don't need to burn all of that plastic, even though it is cool to see it melt. We just need to do what we need to do.

You are correct. I have written more than one Best Answer on the topic of global warming. It was about three months ago, but please look it up. You will then have some solid data with which to contradict the claims of fearmongers.
Al Gore is doing the same thing that Columbus did when he predicted an eclipse to frighten the native American islanders to contribute supplies to his voyage. He took advantage of a natural phenomenon which he knew was going to happen, and used it to frighten and lie to people for his own benefit.
Only, Gore is also using it to smear the reputations of his political enemies. I took him to task over this in my answer to his recent question which assumed that global warming is a man-made thing. I doubt that he will ever see it, he probably has some young intern to go through them and only pass along the ones that flatter him and agree with him. But I stood up for what is right.

some people think so, some do not
most scientists believe that human activity is contributing to this cycle
I think that even if people are contributing, then it is still a "natural" part of the earth's process. People are part of the biosphere and the actions of people is all part of what happens in the earth.
The question nobody ever asks is, is global warming good, bad, or indifferent?
I am indifferent to it, but I suspect it will make life better for many people and worse for many other people.

No, absolutely not! Global warming is the earth's biggest threat, our lives depend on earth and earth depends on us! If we keep polluting the earth then say goodbye to your dimly lit future. Maybe you think that it's a phase of the earth but it is not. You of all people should know.

It could be a danger, or it could just get really uncomfortable.
If it's a danger, take comfort in the fact that humanity will probably use those disproportionally large brains and limbs to save itself. As for any certain individual, I can't be safe in saying names.
If it's not the start of a mass extinction, we probably will inventa better AC, make clean cars, and get used to it. Someopne will whine, someone will blame society, and someone else will tell them to shut up and get to work.
