Age has nothing to do with it. There are eighty year olds getting degrees. If that doctorate's degree is going to help you, then go for it!

You already answered your question you stated "you want to "so go for it . yeah so what what your 56 years old you may live another 3 months or 75 years ( i feel with the advancement in science that life expectancy will increase dramatic) with a degree in teaching there is tenure so you can decide when you want to retire, and generally a PhD in education your pay will go way up. so whats the down side.

HELL yes do it if you have the time and money, my aunt started college at 42, she got her Masters at 51, our family was so proud. It takes a lot to do it when your older but believe me, you will get a lot of respect, plus you can show those little piss pots, how to do it old school. Good Luck either way

Think of it this way... if it takes you 3 years to get your degree, how old will you be if you don't get the degree?

It's not time doing the person, it's the person doing time...:)

Best of luck in your present and future.

Why do you need to go to school again? Is this for a job or entertainment? I would say go for it if you like studying and enjoy school but I have to warn you that the schools have changed alot from the time that you were probably going to school!!!

So its more a matter of reasons behind this decision!

Absolutely, you are NEVER too old to go back to school and get a higher education. Be a great example to those that are younger and chase your dreams! Good luck!!!

definitely! go for it. why limit yourself if it is truly something you want to go for? i've been in classes before where I thought one of my fellow classmates was the professor. why spend any time settling for less or not being happy with what you're doing?
