As long as his shell does not start to get soft due to lack of basking he will be fine. He may need a few days to adjust to his new home. Just try and check him once in a while to see if he has a shoft shell or not.
Here is a good website that will help you out a lot

If you do not have a heating lamp, is the new tank in a spot where there is enough sun light? The second the sun light hits my turtles' tank they get right on top of their rocks hehe. Maybe your turtle would feel like coming out of the water with more sun. If not, remember that turtles hibernate by staying underwater for months when winter arrives. Pretty soon I would need a large tank like yours for my red ear slider! ;-)

a 50 gt will be good for a lengthy time period. I actual have had a RES turtle for 3 or 4 years in a 10gt. my turtle is about 5 a million/2 in. in length and four in width. when I first were given him he became as small as 1 / 4 (25cents). purely make positive he has adequate water to swim round and someplace so he can climb on and take a relax in addition they pick mild 24/7 because they're chilly-blooded reptiles. they can make their personal body warmth. good success including your turtles in case you get them yet with somewhat of success you do:) desire i help you including your ?

One of my red eared sliders I have had for 27 years, he doesn't come out of the water much at all. He does once and a while and basks under his UVB Lamp.

I used to have a turtle, he was very timid. He wouldn't sun himself on the rock when he could see me, but when I would walk into the room I would see him jump into the water. I'm sure your turtle is the same way.

sounds like you have all the set up you ned for it to get out. Red eared sliders love water, they can stay in it for days. They can eat things that come into the water insects for example.
