It is a good idea. Leave a buck or two every day for them with a note that says "Housekeeping. Thank you!" on it. It'll be appreciated. At the end of the stay, or if I leave an unusual mess, I usually leave 'em $5.
The reason why you leave the tip every day is that the same people don't work daily, and the person attending to your room may have the day off when you check out, and why should someone who didn't do any of the work get the tip, ya know?

Yes, I always leave an envelope on the night stand my last day with "Housekeeping" written on it. For 4-5 days I would leave $20 per couple. I have a lot of respect for people who work hard for their money, and they certainly do. Also, I make a point of saying hello to maids that I see in the hallways, most people ignore them as if they're not even there.

yes it is necessary to tip maids at hotels, because they clean up your room plus others and if nobody tipped you would be acting like you didnt appreciate that. Thats like going to a restaraunt and not tipping your waitress, even though there busting there butts off to serve you and whoever your with!after all you could be cleaning up after yourselves in the hotel, you could wash the sheets and make the beds.but you dont, and if uve ever cleaned the whole house without getting one thank you or a small payment you know exactly how it feels.and quite frankly no one likes not feeling appreciated or overworked with no reward!

Yes, you should tip them. They come in and do a good job and clean your room, you need to tip them. They are trying to make a living too.Ive found that the housekeepers can be very friendly and very helpful. We have had housekeeping people that gave us a lot of information on events in Las Vegas and how to get here and there. They deserve to be recognized

YES! That is if you're human. Can you imagine cleaning up people's crap each and everyday? That would suck. I've seens ome crappy hotel rooms---rooms that don't carry the same mess when at home. Imainge trying to clean that up everyday. These hardworking people live on tips.

Yes, they make minimum wage and it is very hard work. Tip them a minimum of $1 per person per night.

Treat people how you want to be treated. How do you think they feel when you tip them. They smile. That says it all. Show them that you appreciate what they do and that you respect them.
