I read an article about this in Playboy last year in fact and it said that population numbers are decreasing in Detroit because the motor city is not what it used to be.. Back in the 60's when the automotive industry was much more productive (and long before the world we now know as corrupt was a much happier place to be) Detroit was the ideal place for the working man and his family. Most people now a days are looking for small country towns to migrate to even if it means having to drive an hour one way to work every day.. The truth of the matter is, living the big city life anymore means having to deal mainly with thugs, junkies, prostitutes, etc... I don't know too many people that would choose that kind of lifestyle or environment to raise their children if given a choice.. Sad but true

People generally relocate for a few basic reasons which are no different in Detroit.
1. No Jobs
2. High Taxes
3. High cost of living (housing etc)
4. High Crime and Quality of Life Issues
5. Weather (has become the new god of relocation)
Detroit has trouble in all of those areas.
Sad because I grew up in the Detroit suburbs and hate to see it go down.

1.No jobs! High *** property taxes, crime, Kwame Kilpatrick . To be honest the city of Detroit is a city that can get better if these greedy politicians keep their hands out of the cookie jar and get the city back on track ,to become the great city it can be! I really can't blame Kwame Kilpatrick but former mayor Dennis Archer for putting the city in the great debt it's in now!

i don't know about Detroit but a lot of people are moving away from Duarte near Pasadena and well they mostly moved to Texas cause the houses are cheaper there so maybe that is why they are moving to another place
