I'm retired from several very "good" jobs, some of which required college degrees, and I can tell you from experience, modest cash in a great job is one helluva lot better than big cash in a bad job. Money should never be your focus on taking a job. For your own health and happiness. Stop and smell the flowers, and enjoy life. Spoken from experience. God Bless you.

I would like to make big cash in a bad job for a short time. Then I could afford to make modest cash in a great job doing what I like.

It depends on whether or not 'big cash' means. I make a fortune by most standards in a job I can't stand. It's enough to keep me there, but not enough to retire anytime soon. I sort of wish they'd fire me so I could move on without kicking myself. Yes, that makes no sense at all and I'm a weasle.

I would rather have a modest job and something I enjoy because it will all pay off in the end

I would rather enjoy going to work everyday to make modest money, because a sucky job no matter how much you get wears you out.

Take the cash from the bad job and use it for something good. Pay it forward, dude, and don't sweat the small stuff.
