i was wondering that if there is a problem at your job such as power outage is the company supposed to pay you 4 hours or how long you were there for?

how much are they supposed to pay me the 8 hours or for how long i was there waiting for them to send us home?

There is probably no actual law but I would imagine if they would not let you leave then you would be entitled to compensation. If they didn't inform you that you weren't getting paid for that time beforehand then they would have a tough time in court.

I don't think they can just not pay you. They may have the option of forcing you to use your personal time. I think you have a good argument against them. Check with the labor department in your state!

Sure. It's not your fault they failed to provide power. They had you, they just didn't have juice. They may get a break on their electric bill, but they still need to pay their employees who reported for work.

Be reasonable, if that doesn't work call the Department of Labor.

Check your state's labour law. There's usually a minimum number of hours they must pay you and if you worked more than that minimum, then they must pay you for the full amount of time you worked that day.
