Bernardo Bertolucci's Little Buddha does have the Buddha story intertwined with the story of a young boy who might be the reincarnation of a Buddhist monk.

In 2004, Indian film director Shekhar Kapur announced plans to make a film based on the life Siddhartha Gautama, the founder of Buddhism. This yet-untitled film is scheduled for a 2006 release. Its tentative plans were announced in September, 2004. The film's goal is to account the life of the Buddha, and upholding his message of equality and peace. It is said that the film has been given a formal approval by the Dalai Lama, and the script itself is being reviewed by Buddhist scholar Dr. Deepak Chopra and writer Melissa Mathison.

The project would be funded by B. K. Modi, the president of the Maha Bodhi Society, India, and would feature script advice from self-help guru Deepak Chopra. Hollywood stars Richard Gere and Sharon Stone have expressed an interest in appearing in minor roles

I don't know, but in Tibet they have a sitcom, "Everybody Loves Bodhisatva"
