The pain involved with getting a tattoo has more to do with the touch and finesse of the artist than where one gets the tat on the body. Some areas are more sensitive than others in general. But, it is not the same for everyone. The back of the neck will be somewhat sensitive to the pain of the needles. However, if your tattoo artist has a light, gentle touch it shouldn't be too bad.

Yes, tattoos hurt - don't let anyone tell you otherwise, and if they do - don't believe them.

But I got a tattoo on my neck - right over the "big" vertebrae - about three months ago. It didn't hurt as much as I expected, or as much as other tats that I got before. Maybe it depends on who does your tat?

Good luck if you decide to go through with it. Grin and bear it.
