FIFA president Sepp Blatter openly admitted that the actions of Ronaldo (mostly repeatadly diving and trying to influence the referee) basically disqualified him from a title that he would have won otherwise.

Just goes to show, sometimes there is justice.

Ronaldo is no great player and never will be! Come on he's had 2 seasons in the premiership and he's hardly set it alight, oh it's obviously his fault that england went out, (that had nothing to do with a clueless manager, a captain who's passed it, 2 crocked strikers and a 17 year old who eriksson didn't have the balls to play, the fact the gerrard and lampard didn't work well together) Podolski was pretty good, it's a pity messi wasn't match fit and pekerman messed it up, but you can't really argue with podolski

1st he is not a German.
2. Rooney's red card blame came to Christino Ronaldo ( it was ref's fault if its a fault,,, Yet he should have get at-least Yellow.. no fault by Christino Ronaldo.
.Podolvski is a good player Yet Cristiano Ronaldo is far better no doubt in that...
wonder how many Germans were among 40 people chosen to Vote..
in fifa site C.ronaldo had more than 18000+ while Ecuador player had 15000+ and everyone else was bellow 10000 yet World cup is played at Germany & bias desition (i better say nothing furture on that)
C.Ronaldo deserve it as he is the best young player appeared in this World cup,
C.Ronaldo was simply the best young Player in FIFA 2006 if fair chosing was done.
Final reson Why he did not got the award is-- Unfair decision making

Because Ronaldo isn't a player...he's an actor. Podolski is incredibly talented...and he played fairly. He wouldn't unnecessarily dive in an attempt to try to get a free kick or anything. That's why the ref's also wouldn't call fouls when he'd fall because they were pretty well experienced with his tactics...as was the rest of the world. Once he grows up and stops acting like an immature baby...maybe then he may get another award. As for who the award was given to, I think they made the correct decision by giving it to Podolski...he showed maturity in his young age, talent, skills and was very influential to the games and his team.

Because he's a diver and a whiner. Good for Lukas Podolski. Him and Klose were great and I'm not a German fan so this is completly neutural. Christiano Ronaldo has talent but he's a bug and no one likes a bug

Because he didn't deserve it. Not only due to his lack of sportmanship but also Podolski had a way better WC than Ronaldo. Aside from a few penalty kicks of Ronaldo's he didn't do much of anything. Except of course diving, faking and all the other drama he seemed to create.

The reason Ronaldo didnot get the award is probably he didn't perform like he does for Manchester.Playing too much football before the worldcup meant he was burnt out.

I voted for Ronaldo because I believed that he was the most deserving player to get the award and was very disappointed that FIFA overturned the fans' wishes on such matter; however, Cristiano is blessed with everything any person could wish for. Does he need this award? I don't think so!
AMAMOS-TE CRISTIANO, CARA DUM ANJO!
We love you Cristiano, FACE OF AN ANGEL!

There was a campaign in Scotland's press to get him voted as best young player and without that he would not have even made it into second place. However I believe he got more than 150,000 votes from proud Scots in praise of his valient assistance in the sending off with Rooney.

Podolski had a better showing in the World Cup. He made a bigger contribution to his team.

The winner was chosen by the FIFA World Cup Technical Study Group, so I'm pretty sure their choice is a good one.
