Go to a gardening center. They should be able to help you. I am sure they use the stuff themselves.

Work in small amounts of composted cow manure near the base of the plant. Poultry manure will be too "hot". Make sure it is composted to the point of being soil. Lowes or Home Depot carries 40lb bags of it or you can vist a local farm.

Apply fertilizer like Miracle Grow.

just ask urea, start with small amount,this stuff is higher in nitrogen then chicken crap.
