Which Celebrity are you interested in?
You can probably find them at: http://www.starpulse.com/
They will also give you a lead to other fan web sites. The fans collect the images and don't charge you for them. I have seen some sites that feature professional photographer images that you cannot get else where.
They try Google or Yahoo! search. simply search for the event, or the celebrity's name, make sure to put their name in quotes so you can exclude people with similar name.
You just need to search the net.

The best place is the World Entertainment Photo Network.

http://editorial.gettyimages.com has tons of them, but they will have a watermark on them if you don't pay. It's still better than wireimage though because at least you can see them in full size.
