I average about 6 weeks. Tape the toe straight, you can get toe splints at the drug store along with stretch tape.

Now that smarts! Buddy tape your toe to to number 3, Elevate often(above your heart ) when you can which helps decrease the swelling and throbbing. Buy at cast shoe at the pharmacy or an over-sized open toe sandal. Ice 20 minutes every hour while awake for 24-48 hours then apply heat. Take Aspirin with food as directed, or Ibuprofen aka Motrin as directed. Both have anti-inflammatory properties besides helping with the pain. Walking on it in a regular shoe will take 2-4 weeks. The bone will heal 6-8 weeks. Amazing how much pain a broken toe can cause.Get Better soon and say hi to Pinky.

It's not broken..just jammed...If it were broken, you would not be able to move the toe at all and you would be in alot more pain than you are right now. If you can move it, it's bruised..possibly sprained..and yes you can sprain a toe.. For the swelling, put ice wrapped in cloth for about 20 mins, then follow up with a hot compress .. Do this for a couple of days..you will notice that it doesn't hurt as much and the swelling should go down...also elevate it also while doing this too..it will help..

depends- a manual labourer goes back to work in 3 days,
a fat businessman in 2 weeks-
how pain tolerant are you?
only x ray can tell if broken or not.
strapping always helps, even if not broken.
my advice.
1 fourth toe - no consequence if broken or not
2 strap it to toe no. 3 with cotton in between
3 rest and elevation for 3 days.
4 non nsaid analgesic, sos dose, for 3 weeks
5 not wearing shoes may help. try sandals.
