I'd go with some punk, The Unseen, old Rancid, The Offspring. Or some kick-butt rock like System of a Down-Needles. Hate Me, by Blue October.

Go to http://www.towerrecords.com or http://www.amazon.com and search for a band you know and love. (you'll have to look at one of their albums..) on the page they will list a bunch of bands that are like "if you like this you'll also like.." Go to some of the recomended bands albums and listen to sample tracks to find what you like. Thats what I do.

The Beatles, The Eagles, Leonard Skynard, Queen, Pink Floyd, Rolling Stones, The Who, CREED, Styx, Train, ask your parents who they listened to at your age, you would be amazed at the good music they listened too, that you are missing out on, that is what is my sons did with their Ipods.
