How do I prevent my cucumbers from going yellow and falling off?

Like the fruit would be about 1 inch big and then it would shrivel and drop off.

I think Diane is right, the fruit isn't setting at all because pollination hasn't been effective and seeds are not developing. This happens with squash, too ... when the [female] flower shrivels you see the ovary and it looks like a small fruit. If seed is not setting the fruit will not develop and what looks like a fruit will go yellow and drop off.

Maybe too much water, or you have a virus or something. Here is some info:

Go to a garden center and look for nitrogen rich fertilizer. Just ask one of the clerks, they should be able to help you.
