I think that both Karl Rove and George Bush are very narrow minded people who are playing to the conservative party base and personally have no one in their immediate families with illnesses that can be helped by this research. It is known that the embryos that provide the stem cells are ones that are being discarded anyway.
In no way is human life being inteferred with by using them for stem cell research.

The Rapture Right does not believe it is ethical. This whole issue is very sad. The Religious Right should want to do this, should want to find a way to heal the sick. That is what Jesus did, He healed the sick. Somehow, though, the issue of stem cell research has brought the extreme Christian Right out of the woodwork; they claim it will cause an increase in abortion. What?!? It has nothing to do with that. These embryos already exist. If they are not used, they will be discarded. Why would anybody waste such an opportunity to heal the world's ill?

If he does veto stem cell research, it will be a catastrophe
for the U.S.
European countries are already ahead of us with this research
& that is a disgrace for America.
I saw a show on PBS where leukemia was cured with
stem cells - the possibilites are endless.
It'll be a shame if we have to go to another country for treatment.
But, that could be just another part of their plan to weed out
the poor, who couldn't afford it.
Coombs1973 - I can say anything about her - she never returns
to see other answers. But, I'm not saying a thing - it's her world.

The fact is there is no evidence that embryonic stem cells are any better than adult stem cells. Many advancements have been made with adult stem cells. I think arguing to use embryonic stem cells is weird. Its a butchers days work killing the unborn.
This is nothing more than the abortion rights crowd looking for a use for their abortions.
Its all promises about how fetal stem cells are the answer with no evidence they are any better then what we already have.
They don't care about unborn children and thus why not make them in order to kill them? It MAY help someone. It won't help the kid in that test tube that is for sure.

George Bush stands against "Harvesting" stem cells. President Bush has put more money into Stem Cell research than any other president. What most people do not understand is that fetal embryo cells have not produced any results above stem cells taken from non fetal sources.

Because he has to keep some of his promises to the religious right Conservatives that he pandered to in order to steal the Presidency. Why do you think he won???I am with you this is very important research and could bring about the end to many diseases. When he faces his maker he will have to answer for all of his choices and all of the people he and his friends killed because they won't allow something that God( for if you are a true believer everything comes from God) put in the minds of scientists to help His people.---- Jesus weeps again---

Yes, if pushed the President will veto the bill. It is his right as President, no explanation needed. It will not pass in override of veto. I do not agree with bill for ethical reasons, But mostly the test do not bear any great promise. Scientist have found a way to get people to fund their experiments, by promises more than they can deliver.

Many people think that using FETAL stem cells is taking a human life. Therefore, it is immoral to experiment with them. It's as simple as that.
As for those who don't think that a fetus is a human being, your DNA today is exactly the same as the day that you were conceived. If you're human today, then you were human then as well.
Here are some sources about experimenting on "lesser" humans. Read them and then tell me that FETAL stem cell researce is moral.

Exactly what the first guy said.
I have family that suffers too.
With the research that they have done I think it's time to start looking elsewhere for a cure.
