kids helped with dinner and spilled food on the burners. Tried "special" glass stove top cleaners, hot soapy water and scratch pad, and a ton of elbow grease. Can't seem to get it clean.

Try "Barkeeper's Friend". It is a product that was recommended by Corning when they were in the appliance manufacturing business. You should be able to find it in your supermarket in the cleaning department and it would be with the cleansers (Ajax, Comet etc. etc). It is a powder that is a very mild abrasive and will not harm the glass surface.

I have a glass top stove but haven't had this problem (yet). You could try putting dish detergent on it and letting it soak for awhile. Wet the area with hot water first. It should come off quite easily with a plastic scrub pad. I do this with both regular and non-stick pans and it works.

Take a couple very wet soapy washcloths and double layer them on the food. Leave it for a couple hours. It will soften the food so you can scrub it off. You may have to do it a couple times to get it all.

This works for me. Sprinkle burnt food with baking soda then pour lemon juice over the baking soda....not alot just about a table spoon of lemon juice over about a tablespoon of baking soda. Don't panic it will foam up. Let it set for about 10 minutes, then wipe it off. Repeat this step until the burnt food is gone! Good Luck!

What I do is I scrape it with a razor scraper - the one that is really meant for cleaning glss stove top. Something like this: http://www.acehardware.com/sm-razor-scrapers--fi-1305221_cp-1254532.1254896.html
and I use a bit of laundry soap or dishwashing liquid to remove the oil.
