A couple years ago, I would have said no, but now I think they should. It's good to have a lifeline to your kids, especially now that we live in an unfortunate time where schools can be dangerous.

HOWEVER, I think that kids should only have those phones that can only call one or two numbers already programmed into the phone. I think they're called "Fireflies" or something like that :-)

Kids...? But yes, they should have cellphones to use after class... because I do believe that if an emergency does come along, they're going to need it.

In high school, some kids used cellphones to contact parents... but only to make 5 second phone calls. Something like, "Yeah. Pick me up. Bye."

Most of them use cellphones to text friends during class.

Absolutely not-you need to contact your parents while your at school theres the office phones or pay phones. Whats so important that you need to talk to your parents while your in school??? It could wait until you get home,I'm sure!!
I think all cell phones should be banned from all schools-all they do is distract the students when they should be listening to the teacher.

They have cellphones out now for children with preset buttons that call designated numbers. Think they are called fireflys. They are good choices if parents are thinking about giving their child a cellular phone.

No, and if they do, the phones need to be turned off during school hours. It is distracting (not to mention they could get stolen or lost). Kids don't need them at school. They can use the school's phone if it's an emergency.

When I was in high school (only a couple years ago), cell phones were allowed, BUT during school hours, the phones had to be turned off. (Although most of us just put it on silent, for then we'd still know if someone called).

No. If a kid really REALLY needs to talk to their parents they can use the school phone.

Choice between parents and schools.

Last time I checked, there were phones in the front office. Cell phones would seem pretty useless or redundant.
