How often do we have to attend prenatal checkups?

I had my frist prenatal check-up when i was 13 weeks pregnant and iam 16 weeks pregnant now. So how often do i have to have prenatal check-ups till i give birth? my due date will be the last week of December and this will be our first baby. Thanks for the help!

once a month unless ur dr. tells u...u have to go once a week towards the end of the pregnancy also. call ur dr. and schedule an appointment, and talk to them when u go back. a good way to remember questions u have for the dr. is to write them down and take them to ur next appointment.

If a single baby was found, then you'll be going monthly. And you should be having an ultrasound around 20-22 weeks. After 30 weeks or so, visits are increased to every other week, and then in the last month, you'll be seen every week.

If more than one baby was found, or there were other risks found in the pregnancy, the doctor usually will bump up the visits to every 2 weeks.

I did have complications with one of my pregnancies (multiple fibroids), and the doctor saw me more often, as it increased the risk of the pregnancy.

And now, that I'm pregnant with twins, I see my doctor every other week.

Standard in my doctor's office anyway. It might be best if you double check with your doctor at your next checkup, how he/she likes to do things. Every doctor is different.

You will get prenatal checkups usually about 4-5 weeks apart until you are in your last month then you will go every week. The only way this will be different is if you are high risk.

The more further along you are the more prenatal check-ups you go to. For example in December you'll have to go every week.

Usually you'll go every 4 weeks until you get to 30 weeks and then you'll go every two weeks until you get to 36 weeks and then you'll go once a week until you deliver.
