just opened a small shop with two small clients, we are exited but nervous... all 3 partners come from big agencies, big clients...
Q: how can we best approach big clients to try and get them to try us on projects, or invite us to pitch projects ? what is the best approach ? any sound advice or usefull experience ?

Associations may be a good avenue to explore as well. These organizations will address many of the thoughts, questions and concerns you'll inevitably have as well as many you haven't anticipated yet. See the source box for some relevant links.

Research, research, research – this cannot be stressed enough. Read as much as you can about the industry. Here are some book titles that are relevant:

* The Advertising Agency Business: The Complete Manual for Management & Operation by Eugene J. Hameroff
* The Advertising Business: Operations, Creativity, Media Planning, Integrated Communications by John Philip Jones
* How to Start and Run Your Own Advertising Agency by Allan Krieff

1. Get your website built, sign up here to get your domain name, webhosting & email account -> http://www.website.ws/powercontrol . Make sure the website is visible in your name card or newspaper. The website must be visible in your shop signage too.
2. Conduct a launching of your agency
3. Do sales visit to corporate company to introduce your agency.
4. Keep your existing customers' email and send them a newsletter every month or every 3 months (via email)
