Ribeiro isn't the best centerman on the team, but he's done well. Last year he had 16 goals and 35 assists, giving him 51 points on the season. He has learning to do, but to the same extent, he's a young guy and being around the likes of Koivu and Sundstrom, Rivet and Bonk could go a long way towards maturing him into a stronger second line center.

Obviously only someone who knows nothing about hockey would say the Habs are going to leave Montreal like the Expos....

That is like saying the Yankees are leaving New York.

Anyway, to answer your question; Ribeiro is not bad but I consider cheap less than a million. Ribeiro is extremely inconsistent and I think Gainey would've been better off getting a centre like Roenick to play with Kovalev.

Roenick said he wanted to play in Canada for cheap so it could've been a good acquisition for the team to get a good veteran like Roenick.

the ribero signing isnt all that bad cause its only a one year contract and next year he will be a free agent.therefore he had better play his *** off to prove he is worth it or he wont be playing anywhere next season
