I really need help! Do any of you know anything about 1930s fashion - the hair, the style, the jewelry, the makeup, anything????? I really have to know what the girls used to wear in the 1930s - I have a play to do in about a month, and I have to have 1930s fashion - type stuff. Thanks for any help at all!

1930's were the golden era of Hollywood. The hair was "set" and usually short in women. Platinum blond was big, inspired by Jean Harlow. Makeup was glamourous, meaning sometimes heavy. Eyebrows were plucked very thin, or in some cases shaved off & drawn back in. I wouldn't recommend this, but if you're in a play you can cover your eyebrows up and draw some with a pencil. Red lips were popular, in an exaggerated bee-stung shape with a very pronounced Cupid's bow. Jewelry and shoes were somewhat "clunky" to our tastes now.
You can rent some movies from this era, look at your local Blockbuster for "Grand Hotel" or "Dinner at Eight." You can also rent The Aviator to get some ideas, the extended version of the film has some great add-ons about the hair, makeup, and wardrobe!
