I've been on the patch for about 3 months and I've never taken birth control before that. My husband and I are planning to start tryng to concieve in December. I was wondering if anyone knew when I should stop using the patch if we want to get pregnant in December? This will be our first child.

My doctor and my sister in laws doctor both said that in about 3 months from stopping the birth control that you could see results, the only thing is that sometimes it happens faster. It also depends on your age and lifestyle. If you are under 35 and are healthy, you will conceive faster than over 35, etc.

Good luck, I'm trying again too!

First of all, if you are trying to conceive by December, you should have already been off of your birth control. Especially since birth control is just that: an anti-baby drug. So if you still have this in your system, I just don't think it would ever be good for the baby. (this is just my opinion)

And MOST IMPORTANTLY: you need to go to Prenatal Visits to plan your pregnancy. It is wise to be off of any type of birth control for at least >>>>6 months<<<< before trying to conceive. You need to be taking prenatal vitamins as well before you EVEN TRY TO CONCEIVE!!!!! You should be taking prenatal vitamins for the 6 months prior to when you try to conceive. Which would have been a month ago. June 1st 2006.

But if you stop taking the patch today and get some prenatal vitamins today, you should be ok for December. You want your baby to be healthy, so this is the best advice. If you cannot afford to do prenatal visits, you should anyways for the health of your baby, but if not, get some Flinstones vitamins and start taking them everyday from now on until December. You also need lots of FOLIC ACID!!!!!!! Especially for the first 13 weeks of pregnancy, but you want to have all of these vitamins stored up in your body, which is why it is BEST to start taking them so early, and EVERYDAY.
No smoking, drinking, etc, don't even be around it. Eat healthy and exercise as much as possible.

Good luck!

You should be able to conceive right after you stop using the patch. Some people have trouble conceiving if they have been on birth control for awhile but it just depends.

You should really ask your doctor. I was told it could take up to a year when I had the Norplant in? It took me 17 days to get pregnant and I have a fertility problem. It is different for everyone due to chemicals varying in a body.

It is different for every woman. You will probably get an answer from a doctor that's approximate (in months - whatever), but the reality is you won't know until you are off of it and you get pregnant.

I can't say. Everyone is different. I guess it all depends how fertile you are.
