The injectors fire in sequence of the cylinder that is about to fire. It goes with the firing order of the engine. In other wards each injector fires one at a time. Multi port fires all injectors all at one time.

Josh is right, On a sequential port fuel injection system, the fuel injector opens as the cylinder it corelates with is beginning its intake stroke. This causes the best fuel/air mixture to enter the cylinder and thus gives better power/ economy

Yep, it is the most efficient. The older systems used to spray constantly, now the injectors only spray when the intake valve is open, reducing fuel waste to absolute minnimum.
