The fighting will stop when enough people demand it. A cure for greed would help too.

The fighting will only stop when one side or another prevails and even then there may be fighting. Fighting for Americans can end anytime we choose it to. Walk away and it ends in Iraq. Of course that doesn't mean it will end elsewhere.
Iraq suffers from the creation of a power vacuum. Saddam and his cronies kept all the power and kept everyone in line. His tactics were extreme, but they worked. In the process of removing Sunnis from power, we basically destroyed the controlling infrastructure of Iraqi society. We knocked off the power elites, but there was no one to take their place. We did some of the same things in Nazi Germany, even though men like Patton understood that you don't want to remove all of a society's infrastructure no matter how unsavory the thought.
We disarmed the Sunni-controlled Iraqi Army and then set out to make a new one from men who had no experience and guess what they are having to fight the very guys we disarmed, because what do they have to live for now. The Sunnis are sitting there looking at their world collapsing, so you can bet they want to fight. Meanwhile the Shiites and Kurds are finally realizing the opportunity to take land and power for themselves.
And in the middle trying to direct trafffic is America, who has its own agenda for Iraq, which may or may not include long-term military bases and some considerations for American Oil Interests.
We don't really care about Iraqi Democracy except to the extent that it guarantees us a state friendly to American military and political interests in the region.
Bottomline, all the various factions in this region are more than willing to kill each other, if we will only get out of the way.

Those seem to be the answers that our president gives us when we ask those questions.. but i believe there are underlying reasons why we are "fighting for our freedom, and for oil"..
in my opinion.. i dont believe that "the best defence is a good offence".. its just stupid.. if he thinks that we're gonna take out every single person who doesnt like america.. and or terrorists who would like to do bad things to us.. thats plain stupid..
also.. if we were in iraq for oil.. after we got over there.. you'd expect the oil prices to go down.. because we control those oil spots.. but nope, prices went up.. so it directly shows you thats not why we're there.
the main reason why bush fights all these different people.. is because he's power hungry, and he has the power right now.. and he's very cocky and believes only in what his views are (typical republican) and wont take any other views into consideration (unless they're fellow republicans) and so he wants to be the bully and bully around all the other countries.. why? why you ask? because he can.. thats my opinon on his answer. :D

The fighting WON'T end, the US government is trying to establish a democracy in the Middle East....something the Middle East doesn't want.
America is trying to spread its influence in the worst part of the world, a world that opposes everything America does. This will lead to nothing but disaster.

We americans are fighting for the freedom to do anything we want and use all the energy we need for our big fat SUVs and to run our air conditioners and deep fat fryers. Your question is a good one, but I suspect all the people who could give you a solid answer are all busy plotting the deaths of thousands to support their plans to continue consuming most of the planets resources and paying the lowest prices to do so. Remember the presidential foreign policy at play right now is entitled "yee haw!"

our troops will come home when there's no more money to be made by scaring the American public. our troops are nothing more than high price mercenaries. they don't know it because they are brainwashed in to thinking that it's for freedom and to protect our country but it's really just about the money for the high up's and i don't mean the president there are people allot more power full than him

It will not end until there is a government that is not interested in wars and only interested in helping the people in the US as a priority.

It never will. If not this conflict, there will always be another. Get used to it. The world is an imperfect place.
