I would have rather hit that guy than let him insult me because there is some things that you can't let pass by. How 'bout if the French lost and he didn't hit that Italian guy? I would feel really bad and he might have done something more horrible because he's pissed off that he lost and about what that guy said and take him down harder. That Italian guy deserved what he got and more ,please no should insult you and you just let it go. If I was Zidane I would've kicked his Italian butt too.

Zidane had a split second to make a decision on how to react on the goon's insults. He could've reacted in a million different ways, but he did in the most simple one - the one most people use - simply go back and get in his face (or chest or whatever). Nobody can judge him for it, its a human reaction - the guy aint a machine you know...

Materazzi wishes Zidane "an ugly death to you and your family"

I hope you understand why Zidane was angry. it's sad to see a lot of people are hating Zidane.

No he is a dirty player and selfish. He risked it all to play dirty. He deserved a red card.

I think Italy would of won no matter what because at the PK's the person who kicked for Zidane made his.

Hold up....what are you guys talking about...no matter what is said Zidane should of held on to his "cool" and played on. No one knows what was said...and why did he wait to do it...he tried to get away with it...he waited for the ref to turn his head or move further away...

Violence, as that head butt is, needs only to be punished and eliminated. Those actions have no room in sports and therefore they don't deserve any mellowing or effort to diminish the punishment. It doesn't matter if the offender's name is Zidane.
