My understanding is that the name comes from the Norse: Woden's Day. Has nothing to do with weddings.

Saturday is the most popular day for weddings, as most people are free that day.

good question sir, you knows thats strange because they call wednesday hump day. it doesnt seem like a day for marriage but if your totally in love it wouldnt matter. ive never seen a wednesday marriage though

Wedensday is in the middle of the week. No can enjoy an open bar when they are worried about work the next day> DUH!
