Here, adult sitters get $7-10/hr, depending on the quality care they can provide... I have never used an eleven year old girl before... so help me figure out what I should pay for her and should I keep a cap, like $20 per night???

The going rate is two dollars an hour per child, snacks, soda and TV (cable, DVD, or video).

For an eleven year old (assuming you feel she is reponsible enough), leave a list of phone numbers, including explaining when to call 911 first, and when to call your cell phone first.

No boyfriends (or girlfriends) over, and no phone calls.

I agree with the point that 11 years old is probably too young of a person to hire for babysitting. Shoot when I was 11, I still HAD a babysitter! I would find someone at least 15 years old, and pay them $6-$7 an hour.

No eleven year old girl has the experience and maturity to babysit. I wouldn't even leave an eleven year old home alone for an evening. Anything can happen and we hear too many horrific incidents of children left home alone when a fire breaks out on the news. She also couldn't handle a medical emergency with your children. Re-think this and find someone older.

----- an 11 year old isn't old enough to be caring for your baby ---- as a rule of thumb ---ask her what would she do for a baby that's choking? If she doesn't know or gives the wrong answer - find someone who has experience(knows basic first aid) and good references....

In most States a young person has to be at least 16 to work part time --- I would use that as a guide for hiring a babysitter too --- they'd have to have good references and know basic first aid .

well at 11 years old they realy dont need alot of money and they realy dont know the value of a dollar. so if it is for a full evening like four hours or more then give her a 20 dollars if you can spare it, or start out at 15, that is what i got when i babysat at that age mostly was 15, and then once in a while they would give me a 20 if they are realy happy with my babysitting.

Yeah. $20 nightly sounds good for an 11 year old.

I would suggest you get an older baby sitter. 11 years old is TOO young for that kind of repsonsibility

An eleven year old can be as responsible as anybody else. She should get the same respect as any babysitter.

an 11 year old IS a child too. You're going to let a child take care of your child?????? You sure you want to give that much responsibility to a child. SERIOUSLY, its better to be safe than sorry!!
