You probably gravitate to the same people when you are looking for new people to hang out with, next time you start looking for friends or a relationship just look to people who you never really would ahve thought your self being with, atleast it is better than abuse.

I would seek professional advice. Even if you think you can't afford it, there are many self help groups that don't cost any money to join. I have also been abused and if you think you're alone--you most certainly are not. I find strength in knowing that people CAN overcome the past. Some of my favorite artists (like Tori Amos and Fiona Apple) have expressed their experience through music.

Find a creative outlet (music, poetry, art, dance, etc.) and find a place where you can seek therapy, either with one therapist or a self help group of many who have experienced the same thing. Also, try going to the RAINN web site and check out the resources there.

A lot of abused feel this way!!!! You really could benefit from some professional counsellings.. from someone who specializes in abuse issues. This is a problem of brain chemistry and some deep seated conditioned responses. It is NOT a simple thing that you can simply decide to change. It can be changed, but it takes a lot of work and effective techniques. They can be found!
