According to the American Film Institute, the film Citizen Kane is the best movie ever made. (look up the AFI's Top 100 Best Movies Of All Time list). It's an older film from the 1940s. What makes it so amazing is the work they were able to do with the lighting to cause such contrasts with the black and white film.

I'm not a really big fan of the movie but I have to say The Wizard of Oz. I know, I know it lame, but that movie gave way to the kick a** special effects we have today! Who knows what would have happened if that movie had not come out! That movie was way too advanced for it's time. Thankfully!
