In my personal opinion, and even if it is permitted by law in Japan, the parties currently involved in the nuclear crisis with North Korea should seriously review Chapter 7 of the UN Charter and reconsider what their next move will be.
I seriously think that, due to the delicate and sensitive nature of this matter, the only solution to put an end to this crisis is the diplomatic effort, especially of Japan, China and the United States. The real danger would be to keep isolating the North Koreans, becuase I think it would eventually trigger a military confrontation, with God knows the outcome and the consequences.

Constitutional? Under who's Constitution?
I'm Japanese but live in the United States. I don't think that Japan should get involved unless the nations around North Korea refuse to do anything. Even then, I would like to see a peaceful resolution come out. Perhaps they would give up their Nuclear program in exchange for a defense pact where the other nations would protect them in case of an American invasion. Thats why they say they need them.

I'm thinking you should consider South Korea (where I live) and the effects of a war.
If North Korea ever went to war with Japan, South Korea would be dragged into it. SK would lose much more than Japan, considering it's landlocked with North Korea.

well it would not be a preemptive strike. In 1998 n korea signed a treaty stating that they would not fire missles into the sea of japan or over japan. N korea broke that treaty by firing the missles. if you break a treaty you get wat you deserve, the n koreans total disregard for the rest of the world needs to be dealt with once and for all.

Japan relies on the U.S. militarily. If they go to war, then we do to. So I hope yer ready....
P.S. From what I read, Japan cannot do a preemptive strike on NK, they don't have weapon's that will reach. The U.S. would have to do that as well..

The Japanese have no weapons!! We made them disarm after WW2 and they have no army. How could they preempt anything?? At least do some research before you ask a question.

Since our U.S. goverment doesnt seem to have the balls to do anything except make threats and get punked out....someone needs to take action in N.Korea and it should have been done long ago.Too many real threats are being overlooked while make believe ones are being over zealously attacked.
