Firefox is a web browser. If you want to IM people, you need to download an IM program.

My Ford doesn't let me slice and dice potatoes, but you don't hear me complaining ;)

that's because firefox is a web browser you need an instant messaging program such as AIM, MSN, Yahoo, GAIM

Download Yahoo messenger or IM program.
