I think one of the biggest, is that life was created by some supreme being. Sure, humans may have been created by an advanced civilization, but, God? Give me a break. Or perhaps the prohpets, so called, wrote their own beliefs, while drunk and stoned on ancient drugs. I'm sure there are plenty of drugs, even today, that would get you so high you'd start seeing Gods, too.

Another misconception is that life has purpose. I believe life serves no practical purpose, other than to serve itself until it ends. If you think about it, our human lives really have little impact on the universe, nor does the life of a tree, animal or fish, not even bacteria. Actually bacteria probably has a bigger impact than any other living thing.

No the Earth is not flat. Anyone that believes it is obviously has some thinking malfunctions. Just looking at other celestial objects you could assume it is roundish. And if it was flat, then ships truly would fall off the edge.

I believe assuming human life began here on Earth is also a misconception. I don't see why we couldn't believe that our ancestors actually did come from another part of the galaxy or a different galaxy altogether. Sure it may have taken millions or trillions of years, but it could have happened. We just don't have the technology or mental abilities to prove or disprove it.

Even if God is real, I doubt very seriously he created us. The reason I say that is because if God is real, and is as described in biblical writings, then he has no concept of life or death, love or hate, pain and suffering, nor physical form at all. And if that's the case, how could he create life if he doesn't know what it is?
How can he say he loves us, if he doesn't know what it is.

I could probably write a whole book on this question...

The greatest misconception is that we have space to exercise our Free Will.
Society by definition relegates Free Will. Ambition, desire, where we live, how we conduct ourselves privately and in public are all manipulated by social codes and constraints.
Human life has seen gestures or impressions of the freedom of acting on ones own inclinations. It seems that we do not really know what life can offer. We have never had true access to it. "Reality" and Society seem against any sort of access to a life that one might choose for oneself.

That some things are out of our control. You hear everyone blame another for everything. He killed this person because he was on drugs. She grew up to be a prostitute because her mother didn't raise her well. She wears these clothes because the social pressure wouldn't accept her if she didn't.
