I am flying into O'hare, no luggage. Can I take the L to my hotel? The hotel is the W Lakeshore at 644 N. Lake Shore Dr. (at the corner of E. Ontario.)

I haven't been on the L in years. What line do I take? How much does it cost? Do you still use tokens? How long is the journey?

Can you give me walking directions when I get off the L? (or at least the cross streets of the stop so I can mapquest it.

Am I better off taking a cab?

Thanks Chicago!

while you're @ the W, stop by the hotel spa and get a great massage or other spa services...my friend works there....ask for "toni"!!!

http://tripsweb.rtachicago.com/ or call 312.836.7000 or 1.888.yourcta (examples below r just because i plugged in a time....blue line and bus run regularly)

Take CTA BLUE LINE TRAIN (TO FOREST PARK)
Depart: O'HARE CTA At 08:09 AM
Arrive: CHICAGO CTA At 08:45 AM
Transfer
Take CTA BUS # 66 CHICAGO EASTBOUND
Depart: CHICAGO & MILWAUKEE At 08:48 AM
Arrive: ERIE & FAIRBANKS At 09:04 AM
Walk 0.3 mile E to 644 N LAKE SHORE DR

trip will be $2 for train $2 for bus (cash).....or u can go to the transit car machines before bording blue line and put cash on transit card...this will be your better value.....that way the trip will only cost $2 total (put more cash on there if you're going to do your return trip the same way, or if you're going to be taking public transportation during your stay and hold on to your card)....this is the only way you can still get a transfer now (transfer $1.75 first ride, .25 2nd ride, free third ride all withing 2hrs).....there will be an attendant to help you purchase the right transit card for you....also on the www.yourcta.com, u can find out more about transit cards(1-2-3-5 or 7 day passes)

The CTA trip planner site says

From O'Hare, take the Blue Line downtown to Chicago Ave.
Transfer to the 66 Bus.

You can take that to Fairbanks and Ontario leaving you a 2 block walk.

Fare: $4

Time: About an hour.

See the map at this link for walking instructions:

As far a a cab, it depends on how much luggage you have to schlep.
