Actually an ancient species of humans gave been discovered on an island in the pacific and they were so small they became know as a hobbit. (of course they a extinct now)

I believe they do because I don't think that humans have enough imagination to conceive of something that can't exist somewhere. The universe is huge with enough room for everything. Besides it was my nickname for awhile because I have hairy toes and I'm short. lol

In such a large universe I think there's enough possibility for every kind of thing and since they have been captured in so many peoples' imaginations they do.
