please help.? about 1989 mercedes-benz repair?

I own a 300E 5 passenger sedan. it needs a new fuel pump. I want to do the repairs myself. I need to find out if the fuel pump is in the fuel tank. thanks!

The fuel pump is not inside the tank on this car. Hoist the car up and take a look under it. You'll see the pump and filter bracketed together with lines running between the two and to the fuel tank.
