Investing more of the transport budget in mass transit, subsidize carpooling, build nuclear or coal power plants to replace oil/natural gas plants, drop state tax on petroleum, give incentives to large shipping corporations to use freight trains instead of semi trucks. I'm sure i forgot some that make sense.

Probably the only short term fixes they can do are to reduce the state taxes they levy (they put a cap on the state gas tax in NY). They can also eliminate "Zone Pricing" which makes gas more expensive in areas of higher demand (they just eliminated or are in the process of eliminating Zone Pricing in Connecticut).

On the state level basically all that can be done is lower or suspend the state tax. The Government does not have any control; State or Federal.

i'm sorry, yet that is about the dumbest element i imagine i have heard in a lengthy time period. the quantity which will be kept on gas is truly small compared to the quantity of extra taxes i'd be paying. positive i'd want to purely be spending purely round $60 a month in gas truly of $2 hundred+, yet not if it skill paying $one thousand extra in line with month in taxes. that would make no sense. i'd truly have the extreme gas expenditures. On excellent of that, any relief in gas expenditures would reason a surge in quantity of gas offered. that would both reason shortages or would deliver the costs crusing back up. How about we in simple terms tap into our own accessible oil aspects and construct extra refineries truly? also, terminate all ethanol production/progression on the on the spot.

Gas is one of those commodities Dems like to call 'sins' . Smokes, liquor and gasoline have attached taxes called 'sin taxes'. Find out how much a gallon on non-taxed gas would cost in your state.

Last year our governor lowered the tax on gasoline by .07 per gallon for one month. We were very happy for the reprieve. Thank you Jeb!!!
