The Day 14 Myth
Well-timed intercourse is a much more targeted approach to trying to conceive than just waiting until 14 days after you start your period, having sex and hoping for the best.
The whole concept of day 14 is a myth that has been entrenched in our culture," says Weschler. "Because a 28-day cycle is the average, it's assumed that since women get their period around 14 days after ovulation, they must ovulate on day 14, as well. The fact is that some may ovulate day 10 and some on day 30."
The only way to reliably identify when ovulation occurs is by tracking the primary fertility signs. The two primary fertility signs are waking temperature and cervical fluid. All ovulating women experience these signs all of the time.
The waking temperature is also called the basal body temperature (BBT) and is taken immediately upon awakening – before getting up to go to the bathroom or drinking any beverages. Although the BBT can tell you that you did ovulate and can, to a certain extent, predict a pattern of ovulation, it cannot tell you when you ARE going to ovulate, which is the most important piece of information for anyone who is trying to conceive.
This is why the consistency of the cervical mucus is important. As a woman approaches ovulation, her cervical fluid gets wetter until it reaches its optimum consistency, which is very slippery and stretchy.
These cervical mucus changes take place over a timeframe that is not necessarily a 14-day cycle. When a woman's period ends, her cervical fluid is generally dry or sticky. As she approaches ovulation, whether that is at 10 days or 20 days, the cervical fluid gradually begins to get wetter until it becomes rather sticky and then creamy. This occurs just before it develops into a consistency resembling raw egg white, slippery and stretchy, which is the signal of the most fertile time in the cycle.
The day a woman is most fertile is not necessarily the time when she has the most cervical fluid. The day when the cervical mucus reaches this slippery consistency is the most fertile day of the month.
However, don't wait until that exact day to have intercourse. Start having intercourse every day when your cervical mucus starts to become slippery and continue until your BBT rises, which signals that ovulation has already occurred.
"Say you have an egg white consistency on Monday and Tuesday,"if you still have egg white on Wednesday, you know you still haven't ovulated. The concept is that you continue to have intercourse until your temperature rises, so you're sure yyou've had intercourse on the last day of your most fertile cycle." Does that make sense?
Taking Charge of Your Fertility by Toni Weschler is a wonderful book, it's on my shelf and I highly reccomend it.
Good luck and make it fun!

To get pregnant you must have sex on a day that your eggs are being released.
After the 3rd day from the day that menses started put a thermometer into your mouth and check your body temperature every morning before you start turning in bed. The best time is at about 4 a.m. Maintain a chart. You will find that on one day the body temperature drops from 1/2 degree to one degree. This is the day that your eggs are being released. If you want to get pregnant this is the day that you must have sex. Tell your husband to ejaculate on his inward thrust so that the sperms will shoot deep inside.
After having sex you must stay in bed for about 30 mins with your knees bent up with a pillow under your buttocks so that the sperms will not pour out - to enable them to travel up.
Get your husband to save his sperms in the testacles for at least 5 days before sex to enable them to mature well to do their job.

In addition to the other suggestions about ovulation...also consider your frame of mind. If you're stressed out....fatigued....worried..etc.. this is NOT a good time to make the attempt. Your physical, mental and emotional state are all important considerations in getting pregnant. Make sure you're eating right, getting plenty of rest, reducing stress...NOT taking drugs, smoking, drinking or other harmful things.... You want good crops? Make sure you're planting in fertile ground and you're watering and feeding the seeds. As it is with plants, so it is with kids.
I wish you Peace.
