It wouldn't concern me (but then I'm 3000+ miles from Pompey!), and it should bother you either. You are more likely to encounter radiation as a result of a "dirty bomb" than from a Naval vessel, the security & safety procedures are very strict & strictly followed. The leaflet even explains that new legislation required them to send you the info (so nothing has actually changed, you just know what's going on now!)
How's that awful "SuperCentre" in Gosport?

i don't want to be an alarmist, but there must be a reason they felt the need to print the form at this time, and make it available in this manner. i bet there is so much that we don't know that we don't know, and sometimes, when little bits and pieces slip out, one wonders if it wasn't better to be kept in the dark. Or maybe not. Good Luck! (ps -- I told my kids if the big one drops, it's time to go outside & play -- at least we will all go together to the next life. Gheesh -- it's easy to make light of it, but when you think about it in a real sense, to answer your question, yeah, it's bad.)

Fair dues to them, they didnt have to give that information out, so i'm impressed. it is nothing to wirry about, as they said, the risk of it even happening is close enough to none, let alone any of the radiation escaping from a vessel (the hull being too think to let gamma particles through). but it is some useful information to know. i'm impressed that they even mentioned potassiun iodate, which works to counter-act the effect of radiation poisoning, so even in such an event, there will doubtles be plenty to hand out or get hold of, if you feel badly enough you want to take that precaution.

It's good that your local council is thinking ahead, just in case the worst would ever happen. Thanks to the nuclear power station at Sellafield, the Irish Sea is now the most radioactive sea in the world. It's about time it was shut down, it's an accident waiting to happen. At when it does happen, it will make the Chernobyl disaster seem small.

Don't worry your self over it. If it happens you won't know about . It will be over quick. Just live your life. I live near a nuclear reactor in NY but I do not fear it if there was an explosion. If it's your time it's your time. No ifs ands or buts about it. Go have fun and forget about it.
