None of the information I find describes the device working normally, then stopping and having the Apple logo appear -- so your problem is a curious one.
Is the Hold button ON, so that noting can be accidentally changed by an inadvertent touch of the wheel?
This article describes the Apple logo appearing when turning the device on, but then it doesn't go away...

It sounds like it might be a battery issue, so try what this page suggests:

Your battery is not holding a charge. You may need to have the battery replaced, which, unfortunately, is fairly expensive.
By the way...it won't really help your problem if it is the battery, but restoring to factory defaults is not as drastic as it sounds...all of your music is backed up in iTunes, and it will all sync right back after you do the restore. I had to do it on my daughter's iPod not long ago, as nothing else worked for the problem she had. Everything came right back once it was re-synched with iTunes.

Ya...that occurred to me about 2 weeks in the past. My chum became scrolling by potential of my songs and performed this one songs (he had to ascertain my artwork for my songs). properly, each and each and every time he click on that music my iPod saved doing what your iPod did. And everytime he clicked that music then it did that. properly, what i did became, I grew to change into it off and did not mess w/ it for an afternoon. Then i have been given on iTunes and plugged my iPod in. Then I deleted that music. Then i as a lot as date my iPod. After that i left my iPod on my own for an afternoon then i grew to change into it decrease back on. And it worked. i guess the iPod only needed a damage! LOL! properly, i'm hoping this works! Take care!!
