ken holland made a big mistake considering signing belfour. he ain't worth a crap. he's too old and not going to help the wings win. ozzie is slightly better. i think holland jumped the gun too fast with not giving legace another chance. he was not to blame for the loss. the whole team was at fault. everytime the wings fail, the fans run the goalie out of town like they run the quarterbacks out of town. i say neither. they need a better goalie.

why not trade for j.s.g or someone better than a washed up jacka$$ who has a bad temper. i hope the front office knows what they are doing. they are not smart to let legace go

The Wings did try to get Gerber but were outbidded. Osgood will be backup, but will be able to compete for the #1 spot. And sorry Manny is not coming back. He has potential to be a good goaltender, but he needs more experience, especially in the playoffs. Osgood has the experience to carry us through the playoffs, can we say the same about Manny? Kenny Holland is looking for someone with that seasoned experience and unfortunately Belfour is about the only choice left. Legacy explained it pretty well in to the press as Ken Holland, Mike Illitch and Babcock want someone who is from the old school, the old school coaches, GMs, etc like to play with their own crowd. It should also be mentioned that Detroit drafted a great Swedish netminder.

Belfour. He is old but still a great goalie. He will probaly start.
Osgood is descent though, It doesnt matter who really starts because both can get the job done well. They should have held onto Legace.

I aboslutley F****'in agree with you.
The whole deal stinks.
Even if he did want to get rid of Manny, why wouldnt they just bring Jimmy Howard up from the minors?
He is a damn good goalie and is already on the team.
Oooppps forgot to say they better use Osgood more so he isnt so rusty. Belfour is going to be on the injured list in no time flat.

Ken Holland is turning into Glen Sather--let's see how bad we can mess up a team!! Manny had an excellent season and the playoff loss was not his fault and why, if you are so concerned about your goalie, would you sign a 41 year old idiot who does not get along with any one and has a bad back to boot?!? Osgood needs to stay as back up.

I think the Wings knew Shanny and Stevie Y wouldn't be on the roster, so they signed the most ancient player they could to keep the avg age of the team WAY up there. Maybe there's some kind of kickback for employee old, over the hill hockey players that no one but Detroit knows about...

But to answer the question...should be Osbad, err...I mean Osgood. =)

I'd still try to find a way to get Manny back - he brought them to over 30 wins alone last year. I think his better years are still before him, unlike the other two options.

I dunno why they signed the "Aging Eagle"...

Since Belfour costs so much, I dunno why they'd get him if he wasnt their #1 guy.
