The rape incident will always be a remembrance. But it is not the end of the world. Make sure you join a rape assistance agency, here you can talk about the incident and in doing so, the counseling will make you stronger. Do not fear. When you are older, you can get a job at one of those agencies to help counsel other people who have been faced with this type of crime.
I was raped twice, once as a child of 11yrs of age and again as an adult at 40yrs. You never forget, but you should not allow it to rule your life. I'm sorry for your hurts and pains... I send you my peace of mind. You will be fine!!!

It will bother you to the extent that you let it bother you.
If you let rape defign your life and who you are, if you allow yourself to think that all men are potential rapiests, or live in fear of it happening again - then YES - it will have an effect on you forever.
IF you instead come to terms with it - and see it for what it is and not a reflection on you, or life in general, if you can learn to forgive the guy who raped you, and not carry the jagged littel bit of hate and fear around with you - then NO - it will not effect you any more.
Yes - that second one involves hard work - but so does the first.
The choice is yours. It is up to you, whether this effects you for life or not.
Choose wisely.

Only if you choose to let it. Go on with your life and forget it. Don't dwell on it. Don't believe you are that weak minded that the media will tell you it will affect you forever. Sorry that happened, but just like anything else, you have to get over it an move on. Talk to a trusted friend about it, sure you might feel bad for awhile, but if you let it rule your life, then you will give over your life to it. Do not let a bad experience take power over you after it's over. Go on. Let it make you stronger.

I suggest that you talk to a professional about your feelings. Just remember that rape is about power and control. Maybe in the future you will be able to council others who have had this terrible experience. I wish you a speedy recovery and a bright future.

Honey, you need to be seeing a councilor. There are groups for girls who have been raped. Go to someplace like Planned Parenthood. They should have a list of places for you to get in touch with. No one should have to go through such a thing. Your body belongs to no one except YOU, so take it back.
