I think that you are right. I have often pondered why we don't just get out of that region entirely. These people have been fighting for eons. We should just mind our own business.
But, I suppose that we do it to have an ally in the Middle East. I don't know if this is a good enough reason to be butting into other peoples' business, though...

First off in this recent conflict Hamas is the aggressor. Since Israel withdrew from Gaza Hamas has launched consistant rocket attacks against Israel and have kidnapped two Israeli citizens. Second what could George bush possibly say to Israel to make them stop. Israels civillian population is being unapologetically attacked by terrorists who were recently elected by an overwhelming majority in a democratic election. Short of the actual use of force I do not think we could compel Israel to do very much. The US does not benifit from the conflict between Israel and Gaza especially since neither side buy there small arms and ammunitions from the US (With the exception of some bombs, shells and missles but the affect the is nullified by oil prices).
Some have posted that Israel is tresspassing on palestinian land and vice versa. If these people were actually concerned with the rights of an inigenous people and not furthing there own political belief then you would think that they would demand the land was returned to the Samaritans who have continually lived in region longer than both palestinians and the Isrealis.

Israel is an ally of the USA, but they spy on us, they have broken over 31 UN resolutions, they discriminate on the basis of religion....obviously Israel exercises great political control of our congress and presidency...if it did not we would not tolerate Israel's actions...try this...read a story about Gaza then substitute China and Tibet instead of Israel and Gaza...what would the US action be? We would not be quiet- no way...even though our supporting Israel hurts the US with important oil producing countries and therefore our security, we continue to support her...why???? Political Control is the only answer that holds up....check out the Harvard paper that discusses AIPAC lobby...BTW, I am against hate of any kind...I despise violence of any kind...but the US and Israel have the power...and the one with the power has the obligation to take the lead....

i do not understand how previous you're, yet i have seen this "cycle of violence" on the grounds that Yassr Arafat first declared his 'Intafada' decrease back contained in the day. fairly all of us hates Israel's strong-armed procedures, yet Hamas has proved that any olive branch that Israel extends will be set on hearth. the in ordinary words element which will fulfill some is for Israel to give up to exist. That being suggested, i do no longer imagine the U. S. has any extra company propping up a overseas us of a by employing help or "fashionable chum" prestige. The Founders warned of such issues, by employing meaning different international places ought to change into green with envy of the fashionable us of a and are available to despise the U. S.. I dislike sounding like i'm equivocating, so allow me be sparkling: I easily have not seen Israel launching an attack that became no longer initiated by employing some act on the part of the Palestinians. Now that's rockets, in the previous it became suicide bombers. And purely because their are fewer casualties for the Israelis does no longer mean the rockets are possibility free. The psychological result can persist for years, even bring about everlasting alterations in habit. till Hamas, Hezb Allah (Hezbollah), or the Muslim Brotherhood provide peace conceivable, why might want to Israel be envisioned to?

This just shows how the US gov.is and anti-Islamic/Palestinian government... I'm totally against terrorism and terrorists even though I'm a Saudi/Muslim woman But this has been going on for a long time, nothing is new....And it is ridiculous to say that (so what, they have suicide bombers too) suicide bombing just started to appear because it's there only way to defend themselves...it's really ridiculous when the Israelis go and kill Palestinian children whether they are Christians or Muslims, America always seems to find excuses and mostly they just ignore and pretend nothing happened...but when a Palestinian is hopeless enough to blow himself up they make a big fuss about it, im not saying it's right to blow your self up but that's there only way of defending them selves compared to the multi million dollar weapons they have. I lived in the US and i had a few Jewish friends i dont hate Jews. But imagine having a strange person come to your house and living in it against your will.... you will put up with it for a day or two and maybe even a week or 2 but imagine having Him live in it forever and eventually taking over it...how would you feel...???... how are they supposed to ever live in peace when these strangers came over and took there land away from them.... I have alot more to say...but this is it for now....

Israel is fighting the same psychotic Islamic fascists that the U.S. is currently fighting. It would not be wise for America to wage a war on terror, while telling Israel not to fight terrorists.
To ask that question sincerely is to imply that you don't know or don't believe that Israel is confronting terrorism.
That's a hard case to make. Good luck convincing those who actually know the history of Hamas.

Israel is our ally in the middle east, and by my opinion Israel has more of a right to be there than the Palestinians. Also, you make it out to be like Palestinians are the only ones dying.. Suicide bombers blow up busses and cafes on a weekly basis killing Israelis.

simple: USA can make more money by supporting Israel. You think US gives a F*** about "helping" others. Bush just wants money and power. And by supporting Israel he is getting this in abundence!

I used to want to debate this issue but the ignorance of the americans and the brain washed lies of the zionists just make me so bored. I sometimes find myself hating americans and jews because of their policy towards the palestinians. Then I have to pull back. I know it is not all americans and I know it is not all jews, it is the zionists who are causing the suffering. It is not all americans who are ignorant some actualy do try getting international news from non zionist and unbiased sources. The trouble is most jews fall easily into the hands of the zionists. And most americans still don't have a clue what is going on in the world and what their government is doing. The few that do bother to watch or read international news think that american news on tv is unbiased and so no wonder their opinion is so blinkered and warped.
You are being controlled America, and your sleepy ignorant attitude is killing innocent people. I know most of you are not evil but take the blinkers off and see which country is doing the most killing, the most stealing, the most pollution, the most bombing, the most land stealing. See which country is sponsering the killing. See which country breaks the most international laws, which country tries to bend the word freedom or democracy to fit in with its unjust and cruel facist policies. Which country is constantly breeching UN regulations. Which country has the most weapons of mass destruction?
So who/ how will it stop. I think it is up to the american people to clean up their government. But I think so many people have given up hope on that and now want to kill americans. Not supprising realy. How to wake americans up to what they are responsible for? Some might say fly an airliner into one of their city buildings...that might wake them up. But I think that is stooping as low as the evil of the american and zionist policies. we are all against that kind of evil. I still believe in the possibility that democracy and civilisation might come to america.
Imagine the land of the free when it is realy free from the lies and ignorance that its people are fed with on a daily basis.
As for the zionists they will be floundering when america comes to its senses and stops supporting their killing and land grabbing.
I just hope that they turn round soon before the whole world starts hating them. They are digging them selves into a very big hole.

The U.S. has enough irons in the fire right now with Iraq, Iran, and North Korea. Last thing it needs to do is to go poking around in another Middle East mess.
Let the Israelis and the Palestinians settle their own disputes. How many U.S. mediation efforts in the area have failed over the years (most notably/recently Clinton's colossal failure)?
